Last summer I took a weekly walk with my daughter Nia to St Anne’s Park in Dublin. The sun was shinning and the markets were in full flow with people of all nationalities enjoying the atmosphere.

It reminded me of the relaxed day time festivals I went to (in my twenties) in Australia. On the grass there was a few friends practicing yoga. I was in awe with the grace, poise and elegance of these Yogi’s routine. It seemed a million miles away from the Ireland I grew up in.

Just as we were about to leave an older couple stood beside us. The lady was dressed elegantly in floral dress with a sun hat and glasses worth more than my entire wardrobe. The gentleman was wearing equally as expensive clobber and both seemed like they belonged at the Cannes film festival rather than Dublin.

I then overheard the woman in hushed tone tell her husband that they should take up Yoga. Without skipping a beat, the husband yelled, “sure, they’re COMPLETE POSERS”. His wife went completely red and scuttled off, leaving her husband to face the yogis.

His explanation was short and sweet, “Jesus, she can’t take me anywhere”. 🤣
