Your hallway is the first thing people see and sets the tone for the rest of the home, so it’s important that it looks its best.  At Red Earth our passion is Interiors and finding the right pieces for your home, In this post I’m going to give you some very useful tips on how to really make an entrance in your hallway.

Paint it! Its as simple as that, a lick of paint can instantly refresh even the dullest of rooms. 2016 was all about using white paint, 2017 was all about the darker neutrals So its no surprise 2018 will be focused on the bolder colours. Below are my top picks for wall colours for your hallway! I’ve selected my favorite Colourtrend paint’s guaranteed to make your neighbours green with envy!

Never forget the power of a great rug or a great light fixture! A nice runner will draw attention to the floor and emphasize the length of the hall. These stunning rugs by Katherine Karnabby are not only beautiful, they’re also super soft and will add warmth.  You’ll be dying to take your shoes off as soon as you step through your front door.

A beautiful light fixture will draw attention up, add a lot of drama and beauty, casting shadows while providing light. For those with low ceilings you can never go wrong with recessed lighting in the hallway. I selected 3 of my favorite Mindy Brownes Interiors pieces that would work well in all types of hallways.

When it comes to dressing your hallway you’ll need the right pieces of furniture. You can never go wrong with a console. Console tables are a great option in a hall as they are narrow and not intrusive.  Use lamps or vases on a console table to add height. Be it art deco inspired, Modern or traditional I’ve chosen my 3 must have consoles.

Finally adding the finishing touches will really pull your look together, be it the perfect mirror for over your console, a statement lamp to add that warm glow or clock to remind you how late your running. These pieces will pull the scheme together and finish off your overall look.
